Georgia Koumentakou

Born in 2012 in Belgium, Georgia began her musical journey at the age of 3 and a half, learning to play the violin using the Suzuki method. Since 2017, she has had the opportunity to work with Erik Sluys in his talent class.

From the age of 6, she demonstrated her musical talent by participating in concerts and festivals such as Festival Klassiek Leeft Jong, Musicorum, Arte Amanti. A month after her tenth birthday she made a spectacular orchestral debut at the Lemmeninstituut, under the direction of Pascale Van Os. Since then she has been regularly invited to take part in various projects. Despite her young age, Georgia has already appeared on stage in several recitals, the first in 2022 at the Brussels Royal Library, where she played on a historic instrument that belonged to Irma Sèthe, a student of Eugène Ysaÿe.

She has won first prize in numerous national and international competitions (Breughel, Jonge Solisten, Crickboom, Micka). In 2023, she was the only European finalist in the Grumiaux competition in Brussels.

To broaden her training, she regularly takes part in Master Classes with renowned musicians such as Philippe Graffin, Tatiana Samouil, Boris Garlitsky, Aylen Pritchin, Aleksey Semenenko and Václav Hudecek.

Georgia plays a violin by Patrick Robin (2021) (https://patrick-robin.com/en/violin-maker/) on loan from Strings For Talent, a fund under the patronage of the King Baudouin Foundation.
